The Paley Center in New York welcomes music icons John Legend and Sara Bareilles to discuss their roles in the upcoming production of NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, airing Easter Sunday, April 1. This next installment of NBC's series of live musicals is an exuberant concert staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic rock opera, performed in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. In addition to Legend and Bareilles, the panel features NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, executive producer Neil Meron, live television director-executive producer Alex Rudzinski, and director David Leveaux.
In Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, Legend portrays the title role of Jesus and Bareilles portrays Mary Magdalene. This musical about the final week in the life of Jesus debuted as a studio album in 1970 and became a hit Broadway show the following year. This behind-the-scenes event is a chance to hear how the artists and other members of the production's award-winning creative team will bring the beloved rock opera to a worldwide television audience.
