Leon Botstein and the American Symphony Orchestra continue their exploration of Ludwig van Beethoven's symphonic masterworks in their concert series Classics Declassified. This concert examines his battle piece, Wellington's Victory, composed to commemorate the Duke of Wellington's victory over Joseph Bonaparte's forces at the Battle of Vitoria in Spain in 1813. The concert begins with a lively discussion delivered by Maestro Botstein, punctuated with musical examples from the Orchestra. After an intermission, you'll hear the work in full and then have the opportunity to share questions and comments with Maestro Botstein and the Orchestra in an intimate post-concert discussion.
