WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Presented by the Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences on Tour. Drawing strength from her music, her Latino culture, her family, her alter-ego Barrio Grrrl and her equally tenacious invisible sidekick Amazing Voice, spunky nine-year-old Ana practically explodes off the stage, acting as her own hero in the face of incredible circumstances. Now, Ana needs to decide what's most important: being a busy superhero preserving justice in the barrio and protecting her neighborhood or being a girl who works little miracles in real life. A delightfully charming coming-of-age pop musical bursting with color and energy, written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights) and Grammy-winning music director for PBS's new Electric Company Bill Sherman. Barrio Grrrl! is a funny and warmly truthful play that will make hearts sing.
