Making its New York debut, Ballet Du Grand Theatre De Geneve brings to life three contemporary works. In Andonis Foniadakis's Selon Désir, the opening choruses of Bach's St. Matthew and St. John Passions are used to conjure up heaven and earth, while Saburo Teshigawara's Para-Dice elevates audiences towards a lighter spirituality with breakneck speed and tense drama. Finally, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui delivers emotion in its pure state in Loin, magically blending the cultures of East and West. With scenery evocative of Arabian balconies, costumes inspired by Far Eastern martial arts, and 17th century European chamber music, Cherkaoui transports dancers and audiences alike.
