WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The powerful, exhilarating sounds of doo-wop, rhythm & blues, soul, and gospel ring out as Dreamlight Theatre Company presents the first NYC revival of Avenue X, the a capella musical by John Jiler and Ray Leslee. Chip Klose directs.
Set in 1963 Brooklyn, racial tensions between the blacks and the Italians keep the two communities sharply divided. Only a single thin line crosses Avenue X -- the sweet harmonies of Doo Wop music unite two boys in their hope for a different life.
