WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Angry Young Teen-Age GIRL GANG Inspired by 1950s pulp novels filled with tough broads and back-alley high jinks, Angry Young Teen-Age GIRL GANG is an old-fashioned yarn infused with modern-day sensibilities. The show, billed as "a startling musical of juvenile delinquency," lives up to the hype with plenty of lust, duplicity, forced prostitution, and general moral corruption. Innocent Didi (Rebecca Marcotte) escapes her abusive uncle (Mark Christopher Tracy) only to end up with street hood Reggie (the ever-hilarious Tamara Zook). A car crash puts Didi in a reform house for young ladies, which only makes her the target of more abuse and sexual desire. In addition, a maniacal matron (Tracy) has her own evil plans for the new girl on the block. Knowles and Smith integrate these diverse elements into a disturbing yet delightful combination. A jazz quartet led by Matt Davis keeps the mood swinging, while Lance Darcy's lighting allows for lots of lurking in shadows. ½ hour pre & 1 hour post receptions.
