WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

American Songbook, the critically acclaimed Lincoln Center series devoted to the rich history and variety of American popular song, returns for its eighth season. This January and February are highlighted by two Thursday evenings of the best in contemporary bluegrass and country in The Allen Room at Broadway and 60th Street, overlooking Central Park.

Thursday, January 26, at 8:30 PM
Rhonda Vincent and the Rage brings its music style based on the roots of American music to the series. Vincent brilliantly fuses the bluegrass traditions of her Missouri childhood with modern influences. This winning combination has helped her win the International Bluegrass Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year award five years running (2000-2004).

Thursday, February 9, at 8:30 PM
Brooklyn-based Hem is celebrated for its debut CD Rabbit Songs. Hem's brand of new country has been hailed by Time Out New York as "an artfully understated brand of pastoral chamber folk whose hushed, rustic eloquence elevates it several notches above standard-issue Americana."
