WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
American Songbook--the acclaimed Lincoln Center series devoted to the popular American song, its singers, and songwriters--opens its sixth season with a sensational one-man show by the multi-talented Billy Porter. This acclaimed stage veteran and recording artist brings his exclusive "At the Corner of Broadway and Soul" one man show to the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse. For this intimate, acoustic evening, Porter offers an intriguing blend of musical tastes and styles in an acoustic experience that features a healthy dose of New American Theater Music by Ricky Ian Gordon, Adam Guettel, and more; a sprinkling of Sondheim; and samplings of Porter's own stirring brand of contemporary pop and R&B, including new material written by the artist for his upcoming sophomore album. Special rates for American Songbook concerts are available for groups of 15 or more by calling the group sales box office at 212-875-5475.
