WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken will take us on a unique musical journey through his renowned and beloved songs. This special performance will include a Q&A with the artist and will be followed by a dessert reception with desserts donated by Fairway Market and cheese donated by Murray's Cheese. Mr. Menken will be joined by three distinguished Belvoir Terrace alumnae: Deborah Grausman, Emma Rosenthal, and Nora Menken, who will each sing a Menken song, accompanied by Diane Marcus, Camp Director and Belvoir Alumna. Alan Menken's stage and film musicals include Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Aladdin, Pocahontas, A Christmas Carol, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, King David, Enchanted, Sister Act, Tangled and Leap of Faith. He has won 8 Academy Awards (4 for Best Score and 4 for Best Song), with 19 nominations. He won the Tony Award for Best Score in 2012, with 3 previous Best Score nominations. His 11 Grammy Awards include winning Song of the Year for "A Whole New World". His other notable achievements include Billboard's #1 single and #1 album, induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and honorary doctorates from New York University and North Carolina School of the Arts.
