WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Hong Kong's premier dance company CCDC (City Contemporary Dance Company) returns to New York for the first time in over a decade with 365 Ways of Doing and Undoing Orientalism, a full-length work co-choreographed by the company's Founder/Director Willy Tsao, Resident Artist Xing Liang and Tibetan dancer/choreographer Sang Jijia.
Co-presented by Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York and Hong Kong Association of New York, 365 Ways of Doing and Undoing Orientalism takes a tongue in cheek approach, poking fun at enduring stereotypes of both ancient and modern China in a quick-fire series of diversions which employ fans, flags, swords, sleeves, banners, parasols, masks, pheasant-plume headdresses, Suzie Wong slit skirts, and a lion dance. The choreography is enhanced by the exquisite performance of CCDC's thirteen dancers who indulge in a brilliant display of East-meet-West.
