Two special industry-only readings of ZAPATA! The Musical, presented by Luke Caliente Productions, will be held in New York City on April 15 and 16.

ZAPATA! features music and lyrics by Peter Edwards and a book by Peter and Ana Edwards, with direction by J. Scott Lapp. The cast includes Enrique Acevedo as the dashing and romantic Emiliano Zapata along with Andrea Goss, Marco Zunino, Natalie Toro, Tony Chiroldes, Javier Ignacio, Blanca Carnacho, Victor Hernandez, Jennifer Sanchez, Jen Anaya, Erin Maya, Vanessa Diaz, Joline Mujica, Nick Devito, and Marco Santiago.

The show follows Emiliano Zapata, one of the leading figures in the Mexican Revolution. The story is described as follows: "One hundred years ago in a village outside Mexico City, the people enlisted a reluctant, young Zapata to help reclaim their stolen ancestral lands. Battered by the conflicting passions of his enchanting wife, his hotheaded brother and a succession of corrupt presidents, Zapata must ultimately relinquish his love of peace to fight — and sacrifice — for a greater cause."

Peter Edwards, a Nashville songwriter, has written songs for Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson. Collaborating with his wife, Ana, he has also written a series of popular children's books including Miguelito and the Turtle, Four Heads Are Better Than One, and A Gator Named Sonny.
