Emmy Award nominee T.R. Knight (Grey's Anatomy) has been announced to join the cast of Broadway’s It's Only a Play in the role of Frank Finger beginning March 31 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The role of Frank Finger, currently being played by Maulik Pancholy, was originally played by Rupert Grint.

Knight joins the cast on the same day that two-time Tony winner Nathan Lane returns, replacing Martin Short in the role of James Wicker, as previously announced. Lane originated the part of James Wicker when the Jack O'Brien-helmed comedy officially opened on October 9, 2014, at the Schoenfeld Theatre. Both Knight and Lane will continue with the production through its scheduled closing date of June 7.

The current cast also features Matthew Broderick, F. Murray Abraham, Stockard Channing, Katie Finneran, and Micah Stock.

The backstage comedy is set on the opening night of a new Broadway play as its author (Broderick), his best friend (Lane), producer (Finneran), leading lady (Channing), and director (Pancholy), along with a drama critic (Abraham) and a coat check attendant (Stock) await the reviews.

A Broadway veteran, Knight's recent New York theater credits include Samuel D. Hunter's Pocatello at Playwrights Horizons in 2013 and Classic Stage Company's 2013 revival of Romeo and Juliet.
