TED Talks Live to Kick Off With "The Education Revolution" at the Town Hall

TED Talks Live, a six-night speaker event featuring TED Talks, short films, and performances hosted by TED and PBS at the Town Hall, begins this Sunday with a program titled "The Education Revolution." The education-themed program will take place on November 1 and 2 at 7:30pm. TED Talks Live is hosted by author, comedian, and activist Baratunde Thurston.

On November 1, guests scheduled for "The Education Revolution" include Daniella Carter, founder, Gender Global; Nadia Lopez, Mott Hall Bridges Academy principal; Julie Lythcott-Haims, academic and best-selling author of How to Raise an Adult; Andrew Mangino, CEO and cofounder of the Future Project; Sean McCombs, 2014 National Teacher of the Year; Meshell Ndegeocello, Grammy Award nominated singer-songwriter, rapper, bassist, and vocalist; Harlem Samba, Brazilian percussion ensemble; and Dena Simmons, educator at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.

November 2 guests will be Paul Cantelon, film composer and pianist; Anna Deavere Smith, actress, playwright and professor; Sam Kass, former White House chef, NBC senior food analyst, and MIT Media Lab Fellow; Sal Khan, educator and social entrepreneur; Nadia Lopez, principal of Mott Hall Bridges Academy; Meshell Ndegeocello, Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter, rapper, bassist, and vocalist; Andrew Mangino, CEO and cofounder of the Future Project; Victor Rios, sociology professor and author of Punished: Policing the Lives of Black & Latino Boys; Dena Simmons, educator at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence; and John "Scrapper" Sneider, trumpet.

TED Talks live is offering the opportunity to view a TED event for free to students, educators, and veterans who apply for passes online. More than 1,800 tickets have been distributed to students and educators and are sold out, while free tickets are still available for veterans.
