Tamburlaine, With John Douglas Thompson, Extends at Theatre for a New Audience

Theatre for a New Audience has announced an extension for its acclaimed production of Christopher Marlowe's Tamburlaine, Parts I and II at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center. The drama will now run through January 4 after beginning performances November 1. It was originally scheduled to close on December 21.
Directed by Michael Boyd, the former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the production combines both parts of Marlowe's bloody 1597 epic into one three-and-a-half hour show, including a single 30-minute intermission.
Drama Desk Award winner John Douglas Thompson (Satchmo at the Waldorf) leads the cast in the title role. He is joined by Oberon K.A. Adjepong, Carlo Alban, Matthew Amendt, Nilanjana Bose, Vasile Flutur, Caroline Hewitt, Andrew Hovelson, Zachary Infante, Chukwudi Iwuji, Merritt Janson, Patrice Johnson Chevannes, Paul Lazar, Tom O’Keefe, Saxon Palmer, Ian Saint-Germaine, Steven Skybell, Keith Randolph Smith, and James Udom.
The creative team includes Sam Pinkleton (choreography), Tom Piper (sets and costumes), Matthew Richards (lighting), Jane Shaw (sound design/additional composition), Arthur Solari (percussion composition), Jeremy Chernick (special effects), Kathy Fabian/Propstar (props), Alison Bomber (vocal coach), J. Allen Suddeth (fight director), Jonathan Kalb (dramaturg), and Cole Bonenberger (production stage manager).
