Whorl Inside A Loop, a new play by Everyday Rapture collaborators Dick Scanlan and Sherie Rene Scott, will play off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre beginning August 4. The production will be codirected by Scanlan and Tony winner Michael Mayer, who helmed Rapture.

Tony Award nominee Scott stars in the piece, which follows a well-regarded actress who agrees to teach six inmates how to tell their stories behind the bars of a men's maximum security prison. This unlikely group forms a bond, even as the actress' life spins out of control. Scott will be joined by six male actors who play two dozen characters of various ages, genders, and races.

Full casting and creative team information will be announced in the coming months. Whorl Inside a Loop features additional material by Milton Jones, Andre Kelley, Marvin Lewis, Felix Machado, Richard Norat, and Jeffrey Rivera.

Everyday Rapture, a semiautobiographical solo show that also featured Lindsay Mendez, Betsy Wolfe, and Eamon Foley, premiered at Second Stage in 2009 before moving to Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre in 2010, where it received Tony nominations for Best Leading Actress in a Musical and Best Book of a Musical.

Scott's stage credits also include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Little Mermaid, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and The Last Five Years, among other shows. Scanlan is also the coauthor of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.
