Meet the Cast of Clifford Odets' Rocket to the Moon

The 1938 drama gets revived courtesy of Peccadillo Theater Company.

The cast of Clifford Odets' Rocket to the Moon met the press at the Theatre at St. Clement's on February 3. Dan Wackerman directs the drama, which is presented by the Peccadillo Theater Company beginning February 10. Opening night is set for February 23.

Set in New York City during the Great Depression, Rocket to the Moon tells the story of Ben Stark, a middle-aged dentist whose career and loveless marriage are in shambles. A beautiful, ambitious, and idealistic assistant, Cleo, walks into Ben's office, and Ben falls in love for the first time in his life. Cleo offers Ben the possibility of a new and happier future, and Ben struggles with the idea of taking a rocket to the moon.

Ned Eisenberg and Jonathan Hadary, who appeared in recent Broadway revivals of Odets' Awake and Sing! and Golden Boy, lead the cast of the production, along with Lou Liberatore, Katie McClellan, Marilyn Matarrese, Larry Bull, and Michael Keyloun.

The original production of Rocket to the Moon, directed by Harold Clurman, premiered on Broadway on November 24, 1938, at the Belasco Theatre.
