The Martina Arroyo Foundation's 13th Annual Gala, scheduled for November 13 in the Grand Salon of the JW Marriott Essex, will honor Broadway legends Chita Rivera and Tommy Tune, along with Metropolitan Opera Bass-Baritone James Morris and Metropolitan Opera Soprano Ailyn Pérez.

A 10-time Tony nominee, Rivera was most recently seen on Broadway in Kander and Fred Ebb's The Visit. She earned Tony awards for her performances in Kander and Ebb's The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and she is known for originating roles in Bye Bye Birdie, West Side Story, and Chicago, among other classic Broadway musicals.

Tune has been honored with 10 Tony Awards for his work as a performer, choreographer, and director: Best Actor in a Musical for My One and Only; Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Seesaw; Best Choreography for A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, My One and Only, Grand Hotel, and The Will Rogers Follies; and Best Direction of a Musical for Nine, Grand Hotel, and The Will Rogers Follies. In 2015 he was the recipient of the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

Rivera and Tune recently launched a concert tour titled Chita & Tune — Two for the Road, offering performances across the country through 2018.

The mission of the Martina Arroyo Foundation is to counsel young singers in the interpretation of complete roles for public performances. The Foundation guides each singer in the preparation of an entire operatic role through a formal educational process that includes the background of the drama, the historical perspective, the psychological motivation of each character, and language proficiency.
