Morgan James and More Set for Ray Mercer's Pure Motion Benefit

An assortment of Broadway's best dancers will take part in Pure Motion, a benefit of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS set for February 29. Performances will take place at 7pm and 8:30pm at The Citigroup Theater at The Ailey Studios.

The evening is devoted to the work of emerging choreographer Ray Mercer, winner of Joffrey Ballet's Choreographers of Color Award and a 13-year veteran of The Lion King. The evening will feature seven contemporary pieces, including two created especially for the event.

Leading the ensemble will be actress-singer Morgan James (Motown the Musical), who will perform in one of the two performances on February 29, as well as current Broadway Mufasa L. Steven Taylor, who will share spoken word poetry. Clarione Guiterrez will also participate in the show.

Dancers scheduled to perform at Pure Motion include Lamar Baylor, Aubree Brown, Randy Castillo, Savannah Joy Cobb, Solomon Dumas, Josh D. Green, Pia Hamilton, Lindsey Jackson, Jakob Karr, Jaysin McCollum, Jon Ole Olstad, Courtney Ortiz, Lauren Perry, Willie Smith III, Jeffrey C. Sousa, Kellen Stanci, and Donna Michelle Vaughn.
