The Public Theater has announced that Elevator Repair Service will remount its production of The Sound and the Fury in The Public’s Martinson Theater this spring. Directed by John Collins, the show will begin performances on May 14 and run through June 13, with an official press opening on May 21. This partnership will mark the third collaboration between The Public and Elevator Repair Service, having previously presented Gatz and Arguendo.

The Sound and the Fury is a staging of the first section of William Faulkner's famous novel of the same name. As with Gatz, ERS has remained faithful to its source material, using Faulkner's own language rather than adapting it. With innovative casting, split-screen staging, video-projected text, and a lush sound score, ERS pulls Faulkner's story off the page.

The ensemble cast features Mike Iveson, Vin Knight, Aaron Landsman, Randolph Curtis Rand, Greig Sargeant, Kaneza Schaal, Susie Sokol, Lucy Taylor, Tory Vazquez, Ben Williams, and other members of the ERS ensemble.

"The Sound and the Fury is a classic of American literature; Elevator Repair Service has become a classic of American theater," said Artistic Director Oskar Eustis in a statement. "In their 20-year history, they have created a body of work as deep, as original, and as entertaining as any ensemble in the world."
