The York Theatre Company's Developmental LAB Series will present Lord Tom, a new musical with a book by Kimberly Vaughn and Stanley Jay Gelber, and music and lyrics by Gelber. The production is currently running for five performances only from April 13-17 at the York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's.

Inspired by Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin, Lord Tom follows the fortunes of two slaves, Eliza and Tom, as they journey north and south, respectively, one in shadows, the other in shackles. The score includes 26 original songs, ranging in musical styles from spiritual, blues, gospel, jazz, and ragtime, to contemporary ballad, anthem, lullaby, and upbeat comedic swing.

Directed by Tony nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q), the cast will feature Tony nominee Phillip Boykin (Porgy & Bess) in the title role, with Jelani Alladin, Nat Chandler, Carrie Compere, Maria Couch, Glory Crampton, Alan H. Green, Leah Hocking, Kevin Leak Jr., Caitlyn McLaughlin, Kenita Miller, Amma Osei, Jim Poulos, Isaiah Register, Elizabeth Teeter, Gordon Weiss, and Michael Winther.
