Two-time Tony winner Patti LuPone is heading back to the television airwaves, joining the cast of the Showtime series Penny Dreadful full-time for its third season.

LuPone guest-starred in the role of Joan Clayton during the show's second year, and will take on a new role going forward. She will play Dr. Seward, an American therapist treating Eva Green's character, Vanessa Ives.

Set in Victorian England, the horror series draws upon fictional British and Irish characters including Dorian Gray, Mina Harker and Abraham Van Helsing from Dracula, Victor Frankenstein and his Monster, Dracula, among others. It is created, written, and executive-produced by Tony-winning Red playwright John Logan.

LuPone's television credits include Girls, 30 Rock, American Horror Story: Coven, and Life Goes On, among other shows. She recently completed an off-Broadway run in Douglas Carter Beane's Shows for Days, and won Tonys for her performances in Evita and Gypsy.
