Meet the Stars of the New National Tour of Once

The Tony-winning musical heads back out on the road.

The stars of the 2016 national tour of the Tony-winning musical Once met the press at their rehearsal studio on December 16. The tour will launch January 12 at The Stanley in Utica, New York, and will continue through May 2016.

Based on the Academy Award-winning film, Once tells the heartbreaking love story between Guy and Girl, a Dublin street musician and young Czech immigrant. As the connection between them grows, so does their music. Sam Cieri and Mackenzie Lesser-Roy lead the company as Guy and Girl.

Once features a book by Enda Walsh, music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, and original direction by John Tiffany. Shaun Peknic serves as associate director of the tour.

Once played 22 previews and 1,167 performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre where it officially opened on March 18, 2012, after an off-Broadway run at New York Theatre Workshop.
