The York Theatre Company concludes its fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti series with the world premiere of a newly reimagined version of the 1992 musical, My Favorite Year, featuring a book by Joseph Dougherty and a score by Tony-winning songwriting partners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime).

The production will be the first-ever New York revival of the musical, whose original Broadway run ended after only 36 performances at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre. The show will play five performances from December 5-7 at the York Theatre Company’s home at Saint Peter’s.

Directed by Daniel Knechtges, with music direction by David Holcenberg, the 14-member cast will feature Tony nominee Douglas Sills (The Scarlet Pimpernel) as Alan Swann, Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Benjy Stone, Rose Hemingway (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) as K.C. Downing, Tony nominee Richard Kind (The Producers) as King Kaiser, Leslie Kritzer (A Catered Affair) as Alice Miller, and Aaron Galligan-Stierle (Ragtime) as Herb Lee. The company will also include Bree Branker, Joy Hermalyn, Francis Jue, Daniel Marcus, Barbara Marineau, Christine Pedi, Emily Walton, and Nick Wyman. Brian Nason will offer lighting design.

Based on the motion picture by Dennis Palumbo and Norman Steinberg, My Favorite Year follows young Benjy Stone, who, after landing his dream job as a writer’s assistant on the 1954 season of the King Kaiser Comedy Hour, ends up having a wild night on the town with legendary movie star and party animal Alan Swann. The world premiere presentation of the revamped musical will have a book-in-hand concert format and will feature a restructured book as well as several new songs.
