Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris has officially confirmed plans to move to Broadway with the cast of Fun Home, reprising the role he originated in the 2013 Public Theater production.

Inspired by Alison Bechdel's graphic novel-memoir of the same title, Fun Home follows the real-life Bechdel's journey to accept the death of her stern, closeted father, Bruce (played by Cerveris), while coming to terms with her own sexuality.

Cerveris is best known for his Tony-nominated performances in Evita, Lovemusik, Sweeney Todd, and The Who's Tommy, as well as his Tony-winning performance in the original Broadway production of Assassins.

Additional casting will be announced at a later date. The original off-Broadway company featured Judy Kuhn as Helen, Griffin Birney as John Bechdel, Roberta Colindrez as Joan, Noah Hinsdale as Christian Bechdel, Sydney Lucas as Small Alison, Beth Malone as Alison, Joel Perez as Roy, and Emily Skeggs as Medium Alison.

Sam Gold directs the musical, featuring a book and lyrics by Lisa Kron and music by Jeanine Tesori. Performances are set to begin April 4, 2015, at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre.
