Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal Make Their Broadway Debuts Tonight in The Real Thing

Cynthia Nixon, who also appeared in the original production, is featured here alongside Josh Hamilton.

The current Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing, starring Ewan McGregor, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Josh Hamilton, and Cynthia Nixon, opens on Broadway tonight. Sam Gold directs this classic at the American Airlines Theatre.

The Real Thing, which won a Tony Award for Best Play when it premiered on Broadway in 1984, follows Henry (McGregor), a playwright unhappily married to the leading actress in his play, which is about a collapsing marriage. When Henry begins an affair with their friend Annie (Gyllenhaal), life begins to imitate art.

The full cast also includes Ronan Raftery, Alex Breaux, and Madeline Weinstein. The creative team features David Zinn (set design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Mark Barton (lighting design), and Bray Poor (sound design).
