Playwrights Quiara Alegría Hudes (Water by the Spoonful) and Lisa Kron (Fun Home) have joined Signature Theatre's Residency Five program, which provides five-year residencies for several authors and three full productions of new work over the course of that period.

Hudes won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Water by the Spoonful. She is also the author of Elliot: A Soldier's Fugue and The Happiest Song Plays Last, as well as the Tony-nominated, Pulitzer-finalist book for the musical In the Heights. Kron, who penned the book for the new Broadway musical Fun Home, is also the author of 2.5 Minute Ride and In the Wake, among others.

Residency Five playwrights receive a significant cash award, full health benefits, a stipend to attend theatre, access to Signature’s resources and staff, and a place at the center of the artistic process. The other artists currently in the Residency Five program are Annie Baker, Martha Clarke, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Kenneth Lonergan, and Regina Taylor.
