Real Housewives of Atlanta Star NeNe Leakes Set to Join Broadway's Cinderella

Leakes replaces Sherri Shepherd as Keke Palmer’s wicked stepmother tonight.

NeNe Leakes will step into the role of the Wicked Stepmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella tonight, making her Broadway debut in the process. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star replaces Sherri Shepherd, who entered the production in September along with Keke Palmer as Cinderella.

Cinderella, which plays at the Broadway Theatre, features a new book by Douglas Carter Beane. Mark Brokaw directs. The production is set to end its run on January 3, 2015. In addition to receiving a 2013 Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Musical, Cinderella was honored with Actors' Equity's annual "Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway" award. The production is the winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical (William Ivey Long).

Leakes is a television personality best known for her role on the reality television series The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Leakes has also portrayed the recurring character Roz Washington on Glee since its third season in 2012. She also played Rocky Rhoades on TV's The New Normal. In addition she appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice 4 and Dancing With the Stars.
