Hollywood star Keira Knightley is set to make her Broadway debut in Thérèse Raquin, Helen Edmundson's new stage adaptation of the novel by Émile Zola. The production, which will begin previews on October 1, 2015 and open on October 29, will be directed by Evan Cabnet.

Helen Edmundson’s new adaptation was commissioned by Roundabout Theatre Company. In the story, Thérèse has made peace with her loveless marriage to a weak man when her world is turned upside down by the entrance of Laurent. Unable to ignore their passion, the pair sets off on a violent path that may have far worse consequences for the perpetrators than for the victims. The full cast, design team, and venue will be announced shortly.

Keira Knightley is an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Olivier nominee with notable roles including Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean films and Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice. She made her West End in Martin Crimp's translation of Molière's The Misanthrope and in 2011 returned to the London stage in Lillian Hellman’s The Children’s Hour, staged by Ian Rickson.
