Urban Stages will honor Tony nominee Karen Akers at its annual gala, to be held Monday, May 23, at the Central Park Boathouse.

The award will be presented to Akers by Broadway icon Tommy Tune, who directed Akers on Broadway in Grand Hotel and Nine. Akers has also been seen in Urban Stages' cabaret series Winter Rhythm, and around the world as a cabaret performer. On-screen, she has been seen in The Purple Rose of Cairo and Heartburn, among other films.

The evening will feature hits from the American songbook performed by Matthew Ward, gondola rides on the Central Park Lake, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. Katie Jacobs of Christies will head a live auction for cases of wine, Broadway tickets, and dream getaways.
