Cherry Jones and Bradley Whitford have joined Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen in a new film about the life of legendary country-western singer Hank Williams. I Saw the Light tells the story of Williams, who created one of the greatest bodies of work in American music.

Marc Abraham based his screenplay for the film on Colin Escott’s award-winning biography. Abraham also directs.

Cherry Jones will play Williams' mother, Lillie. Whitford will play Fred Rose, the Nashville music publisher who helped guide Williams’ career and also served as a close friend through some of the performer's roughest times.

Jones is well known for her Emmy award-winning role as the President in the hit television series 24. A Tony Award winner, she was most recently seen on Broadway in The Glass Menagerie. Whitford, a Broadway veteran who appeared in Boeing-Boeing, is well known to audiences of The West Wing. He appeared most recently in Transparent.
