According to published reports, Jim Parsons — currently starring on television in The Big Bang Theory and soon to be seen on Broadway in a revival of The Boys in the Band — is set to star in a film adaptation of Matthew Lopez's play The Legend of Georgia McBride. The film will be a partnership between Fox 2000 and New Regency.

The Legend of Georgia McBride follows an Elvis impersonator named Casey as he becomes a drag queen in order to make ends meet for himself and his pregnant wife. Parsons will play Miss Tracy Mills, a veteran drag queen who becomes Casey's coach. Lopez himself will adapt the play for the screen.

Parsons will also produce the film alongside Todd Spiewak through their That's Wonderful Productions banner, with Eric Norsoph executive-producing. 20th Century Fox will be the distributor.
