Flashback Friday: Remembering David Bowie With His Classic "Alabama Song"

Brecht and Weill have never sounded so psychedelic.

When David Bowie died last weekend, he left behind legions of fans, 28 studio albums, and dozens upon dozens of iconic songs. One of the tunes he made massively popular was Kurt Weill and Bertolt Becht's "Alabama Song," a number from their 1930 opera Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. Bowie incorporated the song into his 1978 world tour, and performed it on several other tours through the years. There was nothing like seeing Bowie live, as you can tell from this psychedelic rendition of the Brecht and Weill classic.
