The Public Theater has announced a second and final two-week extension for Elevator Repair Service’s The Sound and the Fury. The production, which began performances in the Public’s Martinson Theater on May 14, was originally extended to June 27. Directed by John Collins, the show will now run an additional two weeks through July 12.

The Sound and the Fury is a staging of the first section of William Faulkner's famous novel of the same name. As with 2012's Gatz, ERS has remained faithful to its source material, using Faulkner's own language rather than adapting it. With the help of split-screen staging, video-projected text, and a lush sound score, ERS pulls Faulkner's story off the page.

The ensemble cast will feature Daphne Gaines, Rosie Goldensohn, Mike Iveson, Vin Knight, Aaron Landsman, Randolph Curtis Rand, Greig Sargeant, Kaneza Schaal, Pete Simpson, Susie Sokol, Lucy Taylor, Tory Vazquez, and Ben Williams.

The Sound and the Fury marked the company's off-Broadway debut in 2008 at New York Theatre Workshop, and the production has since toured the U.S., Europe, and Australia. The production will mark the third collaboration between the Public and Elevator Repair Service, having previously presented Gatz and Arguendo.
