New York City Center is accepting submissions to take part in masterclasses with Tony-winning Broadway pros Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) and Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home).

The new series Front and Center: Learning from the Masters, will provide participants and audience members with the opportunity to observe distinguished artists working with emerging professionals. Clark's event, on November 21, will "unlock the connection between text and songs from the musical theater canon while having an eye toward vocal technique." Tesori's course, on January 23, "is designed for emerging musical theater composers and lyricists," during which she will "give the same assignment to two young writers: adapt a news article from the past year into a musical theater song, based deeply in character and story." A third class, with Tony-winning director Bartlett Sher, will take place on February 27.

Submissions for Clark’s class include two contrasting songs, a resume, and a brief questionnaire to be completed by October 24. Submissions for Tesori’s class include two prior work samples of previously written musical theater songs to be submitted by December 19.
