Chita Rivera to Discuss Her Life and Career in a Classic Conversation at Classic Stage Company

Classic Stage Company will present Classic Conversations: Chita Rivera on Sunday, November 16, at 7:30pm. The two-time Tony-winning Broadway legend will sit down for a chat about her life and career with Tony winner John Doyle who directed Rivera this past summer in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Kander and Ebb's The Visit.

Rivera has performed in 16 Broadway productions spanning seven decades. She has been nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning two, for her performances in The Rink in 1984 and Kiss of the Spider Woman in 1993.

She is widely known as well for originating the iconic roles of Velma Kelly in Chicago, Anita in West Side Story, and Rose in Bye Bye Birdie. Rivera most recently appeared on Broadway in 2012 as Princess Puffer in the Roundabout Theatre Company revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

John Doyle, an associate director at CSC, has been nominated for two Tony Awards, winning in 2006 for his direction of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. He is also directing CSC's upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammersetin's Allegro, which begins performances Saturday, November 1.
