Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures has announced that two-time Emmy winner Bruce Willis will make his Broadway debut opposite Broadway favorite Elizabeth Marvel (Other Desert Cities) in the new play Misery. Directed by Will Frears, Misery will play a strictly limited engagement in the fall at a Broadway house to be announced shortly.

The play is written by two-time Academy Award winner William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), who also wrote the screenplay for the Academy Award-winning film of the same name, based on the acclaimed novel by Stephen King.

In Misery, successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon (Willis) is rescued from a car crash by his "Number One Fan," Annie Wilkes (Marvel), and wakes up captive in her secluded home where she forces him to write a novel to her specifications.

Misery has a set design by David Korins (Motown), lighting design by David Weiner (The Normal Heart), and sound design by Tony Award winner Darron West (Peter and the Starcatcher). The production will be produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Castle Rock, and Raymond Wu.

Bruce Willis, a Hollywood star perhaps best known for his roles in the Die Hard films, began his career on the off-Broadway stage.
