Brooklynite Extends at the Vineyard Theatre

The Vineyard Theatre has announced that the currently running world-premiere musical Brooklynite will extend its limited engagement by one week, through March 29. Helmed and cowritten by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer, Brooklynite officially opened on February 25.
With book by Peter Lerman and Michael Mayer and music and lyrics by Lerman, Brooklynite is inspired by the real Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and based on characters created by Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman. The story follows Trey Swieskowski, an idealistic hardware store clerk who dreams of becoming a superhero. Astrolass, Brooklyn's most celebrated superhero, is determined to throw in the cape and live like a normal Brooklynite. When they meet, they hatch a plan that will change their lives forever.
The show's company features Andrew Call, Gerard Canonico, Max Chernin, Nick Choksi, Nick Cordero, Matt Doyle, Ann Harada, John-Michael Lyles, Grace McLean, Olivia Oguma, Tom Alan Robbins, Nicolette Robinson, and Remy Zaken.
Brooklynite will be choreographed by Steven Hoggett and directed by Mayer. The production will also feature scenic design by Donyale Werle, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by Kai Harada, with Kimberly Grigsby serving as musical director.
