Michael Mayer and Peter Lerman's new musical Brooklynite celebrated its opening night at the Vineyard Theatre on February 25. Inspired by the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company storefront in Park Slope and featuring characters created by the novelists Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman, the production is directed by book writer Mayer and runs through March 22.

The story follows Trey Swieskowski, an idealistic hardware store clerk who dreams of becoming a superhero. At the same time, Astrolass, Brooklyn's most celebrated superhero, is determined to throw in the cape and live like a normal Brooklynite. When they meet, they hatch a plan that will change their lives forever.

Brooklynite stars Andrew Call, Gerard Canonico, Max Chernin, Nick Choksi, Nick Cordero, Matt Doyle, Ann Harada, John-Michael Lyles, Grace McLean, Carla Duren, Tom Alan Robbins, Nicolette Robinson, and Remy Zaken.
