Shuffle Along Star Brandon Victor Dixon Helps Kitty's Canteen Celebrate First Anniversary

The Lower East Side eatery is dedicated to serving Jewish soul food.

Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon (Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed) helped the Jewish soul food restaurant Kitty's Canteen celebrate its first anniversary on Wednesday, September 9, with a blowout bash.

The performer, recently seen in the Public Works production of The Odyssey, wowed the crowd with songs from Motown the Musical (in which he originated the role of music icon Berry Gordy), and was followed by the world champion beat-boxer Eklips.

Dixon has a longtime association with the Lower East Side eatery at 9 Stanton St., as does his producing partner and choreographer Warren Adams, and TheaterMania president and cofounder Darren Sussman. See Dixon performing in the photo below:
