William Luce’s The Belle of Amherst will end its off-Broadway run at the Westside Theatre on November 23. Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) stars in the Steve Cosson-directed production, which began performances on October 7.

The Belle of Amherst is a one-woman play about the private life of prolific poet Emily Dickinson. In the show, Dickinson welcomes audiences into her lifelong Amherst homestead in mid-19th century Massachusetts. Luce weaves her poems, diaries, and letters together into a portrait of the artist. The Belle of Amherst premiered on Broadway in 1976 and earned its star, Julie Harris, one of her five Tony Award wins.

The creative team includes Antje Ellermann (scenic design), David Weiner (lighting design), and Daniel Kluger (sound design). Don Gregory, who produced the original Broadway run, returns to produce this revival.
