The currently running Broadway favorite Beautiful — The Carole King Musical will soon be turned into a feature film, according to reports. Thanks to Broadway veteran Tom Hanks, whose company will produce the film, cinema audiences around the world will soon get to see King's life story on-screen.

The movie version of Beautiful will be adapted by Douglas McGrath, who was nominated for a 2014 Tony for the musical's book. Sony Pictures Entertainment, who will release the film, has reportedly obtained both life rights and the rights to use King’s songs.

Featuring tunes from the music catalog of Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil, Beautiful officially opened at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on January 12, 2014. The show follows the life and career of singer-songwriter King and colleagues Goffin, Mann, and Weil, and features songs including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "One Fine Day," and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," among others.

Jessie Mueller, who won a Tony for her starring role in Beautiful, was recently replaced in the Broadway run by Chilina Kennedy.
