Apotheosis Opera to Present La Fanciulla del West

The company will offer two performances of the Puccini opera.

For two performances on July 22 and 24, Apotheosis Opera will present a fully staged English-language production of Giacomo Puccini's La Fanciulla del West (The Girl of the Golden West) at the theater of El Museo Del Barrio.

Directed by Lucca Damilano, the cast of 26 will be led by Stacey Stofferahn as Minnie, Nicholas Simpson as Dick Johnson, and John Dominick III as Jack Rance. The production will also feature Melanie Ashkar as Wowkle, Ethan Fran as Nick, Joe Palarca as Trin, Max Zander as Harry, Walker J. Jackson as Joe, Robert Garner as Sonora, Matthew Ciuffitelli as Sid, Jay Chacon as Handsome, Nicholas Connolly as Happy, Joseph Beckwith as Ashby, Scott Kipnis as Jim Larkens, Kofi Hayford as Jose Castro, and Bryan Tyler Parker as Billy Jackrabbit. Rounding out the chorus will be Iggy Cardozo, Juanjo Delgado, Tim Difiore, David Gladstein, Jacon Pressley, Mark Seidenstein, and Matthew Tollefsrud.

The production will feature a full 55-piece orchestra led by Apotheosis Opera artistic director Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz, who will serve as musical director and conductor. The creative team also includes scenic design by Mike Zaragoza from DDG Partners and costume design by Allyson Steele. The English translation is by Kelley Rourke.
