Amazing Grace, a new musical by Christopher Smith and Arthur Giron, will play Broadway's Nederlander Theatre beginning June 25 with an opening night planned for July 16. Gabriel Barre (The Wild Party) is set to direct, with choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies).

The new musical features music and lyrics by Christopher Smith and a book by Christopher Smith and Arthur Giron. Amazing Grace is based on the awe-inspiring true story behind the beloved song of the same name. It is described as "a captivating tale of romance, rebellion and redemption," following one man whose incredible journey ignited a historic wave of change that gave birth to the abolitionist movement.

The cast of Amazing Grace will include Tony Award nominee Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar), Erin Mackey (Chaplin), Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper (Act One), Chris Hoch (Matilda), Stanley Bahorek (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Harriett D. Foy (Mamma Mia!), Laiona Michelle (The Book of Mormon national tour), Elizabeth Ward Land (Scandalous), and Rachael Ferrera. Additional casting for the 33-member company will be announced in the coming weeks.

The creative team will feature Eugene Lee and Edward Pierce (scenic design), Toni-Leslie James (costume design), Ken Billington and Paul Miller (lighting design), and Jon Weston (sound design).
