Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and Jake Gyllenhaal Nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards

Nominees for the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have been announced, and a host of theater veterans made the list.

On the film side, Meryl Streep was nominated in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her turn as the Witch in the film version of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods. She was the only cast member from that film nominated.

Other film nominees with theatrical ties include Jake Gyllenhaal (Constellations) for Nightcrawler, Eddie Redmayne (Red) for The Theory of Everything, Ethan Hawke (Macbeth) for Boyhood, Edward Norton (Burn This) for Birdman, Mark Ruffalo (Awake and Sing!) for Foxcatcher and The Normal Heart, and Emma Stone (Cabaret) for Birdman.

On the television end, nominees include theater veterans Ellen Burstyn (The Normal Heart) for Flowers in the Attic, Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Real Thing) for The Honorable Woman, Frances McDormand (Good People) for Olive Kitteridge, Julia Roberts (Three Days of Rain) for The Normal Heart, Cicely Tyson for The Trip to Bountiful, Peter Dinklage (A Month in the Country) for Game of Thrones, Viola Davis (Fences) for How to Get Away With Murder, Uzo Aduba (Godspell) for Orange Is the New Black, and Tracy Letts (August: Osage County) and Laila Robins (The Lady From Dubuque) for Homeland, among others.
