Diane Paulus' Tony Award-winning revival of Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's classic musical Pippin has recouped its $8.5 million capitalization after nearly nine months of performances, the show's producers have announced. Originating at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts last winter, the production moved to Broadway's Music Box Theatre in March.
This revival melds Schwartz and Hirson's classic coming-of-age musical with the death-defying tricks of contemporary circus. Directed by 2013 Tony winner Paulus, choreographed by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and featuring circus creations by Gypsy Snider of the circus troupe Les 7 doigts de la main, Pippin stars Tony winner Patina Miller, Matthew James Thomas, Terrence Mann, Charlotte d'Amboise, Rachel Bay Jones, Erik Altemus, and Tovah Feldshuh.
Pippin features scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Dominique Lemieux, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Jonathan Deans and Garth Helm.
