Flashback Friday: Lin-Manuel Miranda Being a 6th Grade Lady-Killer in Gold Lamé

Watch the Tony-winning rap artist make pre-teen girls faint in a middle-school production of ”Bye Bye Birdie”.

In honor of Lin-Manuel Miranda…being Lin-Manuel Miranda, TheaterMania has decided to flash back to the place it all started for the Tony-winning author of In the Heights (this video is so cute that it doesn’t need further justification).

It features a prepubescent Miranda singing “One Last Kiss” as heartthrob Conrad Birdie in his sixth-grade production of Bye Bye Birdie— the moment that solidified his future as a performer, according to a blurb included below the video. In his own words, “Every girl in the grade screaming at my every move? In a gold lamé jacket my Abuela made me? I'll take it.”

You can’t beat logic like that.
