The Black Film Critics Circle awarded The Help five top honors, including nods for Best Film, for actresses Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer, and for the film’s ensemble, which also includes stage veterans Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Allison Janney.

The group also gave awards to Pariah director and screenwriter Dee Rees, and actors Olivier Litndo (The First Grader) and Albert Brooks (Drive).

In addition, the BFCC named legendary actor and activist Harry Belafonte as the recipient of its Pioneer Award.
