Ron Cephas Jones, Tonya Pinkins, Saycon Sengbloh, et al. Set for Signature’s Hurt Village

Signature Theatre has announced initial casting for Katori Hall’s Hurt Village, to run February 7 – March 18. Patricia McGregor will direct the production, which will officially open on February 27.

The play focuses on a teenage girl, her mother and great-grandmother as they prepare to move out of a housing project in Memphis, Tennessee thanks to a government grant and find that their plans are disrupted by the unexpected return of the girls’ father form a tour of duty in Iraq.

The company will feature Marsha Stephanie Blake, Amari Cheatom, Nicholas Christopher, Corey Hawkins, Ron Cephas Jones, Joaquina Kalukango, Tonya Pinkins, and Saycon Sengbloh. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The creative team will include David Gallo (scenic and projection design), Clint Ramos (costume design), Sarah Sidman (lighting design), and Rob Kaplowitz (sound design).
