PHOTO FLASH: MJ Rodriguez, Isabella Boylston Receive Clive Barnes Awards

MJ Rodriguez, who plays the role of Angel in the Off-Broadway revival of Rent, and American Ballet Theatre soloist Isabella Boylston were recipients of the Clive Barnes Foundation’s second annual awards for young talents in dance and theater, held Monday, December 5 at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.

New York Post theater columnist Michael Riedel served as Master of Ceremonies for the event, which also featured remarks by foundation president Valerie Taylor-Barnes. The awards were presented by Nina Arianda, recipient of the 2010 theater award, and Frederic Franklin.

Theater finalists included Annaleigh Ashford, Jennifer Damiano and Josh Grisetti. Dance finalists included Barrington Hinds of Stephen Petronio Company, Natalie Mackessy of Stephen Petronio Company and Michael Novack of Paul Taylor Dance Company.

Each finalist received a $500 prize, with the winners receiving $5,000.
