The cast and creative team of MCC Theater’s production of Carrie met the press prior to their first rehearsal at Telsey & Co., studio 1, on Friday, December 9.

The production will begin previews on January 31 at the Lucile Lortel Theatre, in anticipation of an official opening on March 1. Stafford Arima will direct the production, which will have choreography by Matt Williams and music direction and arrangements by Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, the musical features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, music by Michael Gore, and lyrics by Dean Pitchford and centers on Carrie White, an outcast at her high school in Chamberlain, Maine, who’s bullied by the popular crowd, and at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother.

Molly Ranson will star in the title role with Marin Mazzie as Carrie’s mother, Margaret. The company will also feature Christy Altomare, Carmen Cusack, Jeanna de Waal, Derek Klena, Ben Thompson, Wayne Wilcox, Corey Boardman, Blair Goldberg, F. Michael Haynie, Andy Mientus, Elly Noble and Jen Sese.
